Luke 17:1,2 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
We hear a lot of sermons on why and how not to sin. However, we don't hear many on why we should not cause others to sin. This passage is in condemnation of our modern society. How many have been led into temptation because of a society, a government, an education system and a promiscuous media that rejects God and promotes destructive living.
Jesus did say that it is impossible that offences or temptation will come, but those that lead people into temptation will be held accountable. There are many today that are going to pay a high price for how they have promoted evil and caused many to be lead astray.
However, we cannot do much about others, we need to look at ourselves. How do we lead our kids astray? How do we lead our friends astray? This passage is a reality check for me to realize that I can sin, yet not only will I affect myself, I will influence those around to be lead astray.
